Green Valley was started by three 'agropreneurs' to add value to a farm produce like coconut, which comes with incredible versatility and nurturing abilities. Green Valley was founded to help the local farmers whom the merchants and middlemen exploited through unfair pricing, making the production process a non-viable option.
The founders, who were from the agricultural background facing the problems first hand, came up with a unique solution in the form of a farm to fork business model that produced value-added agricultural products.
Green Valley is rooted in our local farming community. Green Valley was established to address the exploitation of farmers in Kanjirapuzha, providing a sustaitanle solution for agriculture. Our founders, with their agricultural heritage, developed a business model that supports the long-term viability offarming in thr region.
Our journey began on the year 2000. With the support of Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), Government of India, we set up the shop amidst the valleys of Kanjirapuzha with a purposeful decision to empower our community.
Our business model was built on a simple principle : directly sourcing high-quality, farm grown materias from our neighbouring farmers, andprocessing them with utmost care, free from any adulterants.
While Green Valley intended the farmers to be the primary
beneficiaries of the business, the three founders strongly believed that what enters the kitchen enters your body and makes your heart and soul. Green Valley and its people are highly passionate about quality and keep away any adulterant
- chemicals, sulfur, parabens, artificial fragrance, silicone, smoke, dirt, etc. at all stages.
When you hold a product of Green Valley, you can be assured that you are holding a 100% pure, natural, and hygienic product with a captivating aroma & taste brought to you by three passionate businessmen who also happen to be people who take in 20ml of Green Valley VCO every day on their empty stomach.

Green Valley's Coconut Oil, hence, is of superior quality and is characterized by transparency, pleasant aroma and taste!

What is the difference between Green Valley’s Coconut Oil and Virgin Coconut Oil?
Coconut oil is extracted from a dried coconut kernel called copra. If it is refined, decolourised, and bleached it would be stripped of all its natural values. Therefore, it is important not to consume hot-pressed coconut oil. At Green Valley, copra is pressed through a cold process expeller, thereby retaining all its original nutrients. Green Valley’s Coconut Oil is ideal for light cooking. It is unrefined and not heated up during the process. However, compared to Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO), it has a reduced content of Lauric Acid, the main active ingredient responsible for the therapeutic effects.
Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) is extracted from the fresh milk of coconut using cold press, which maintains all the natural constituents, aroma, and antioxidants of the oil. It is non-greasy and is lighter in viscosity. VCO is rich in medium-chain fatty acids and has good cholesterol and almost negligible trans fatty acids. VCO is recommended to be used for daily consumption, oil pulling, baby massage, etc.
Where and how to store coconut oil?
As Green Valley’s coconut oils have such low moisture content and no contaminants, it is very stable. A cool and dry place should work fine for storage. Coconut oil will solidify if the temperature drops below 24°Celsius but this is not something to be worried about as its composition and nutritional value does not get altered.
How can you tell if coconut oil has gone bad?
Through smell - Coconut oil usually has a pleasant but subtle, sweet scent. If it smells sour or bitter, then the chances are that it has gone rancid.
Through taste – Good coconut oil has a fresh and sweet aroma and is retained in its natural flavour. Bad coconut oil often develops a sour taste.
Through colour – Good coconut oil should be transparent when liquid and milky white when it solidifies. If it has turned yellow chances are it has already expired.
Through appearance - Good coconut oil has a smooth consistency. Your oil is spoiled when it starts to get chunky or if unknown substances are floating on the oil. If you see small patches or dark oil spots in your oil container, it could be mould developing. You'll never know how bad the mould has already contaminated your oil, so it's better to get rid of the oil.
What are the by-products left behind from the coconut oil extraction process?
Coconut oil cake, low-fat desiccated coconut powder, and coconut shell are the three main by-products that get left behind from our production process. To know more about them, please click here.
Our coconut vinegar is crafted through a natural, two-stage fermentation process. First, we ferment coconut water into an alcoholic brew using yeast. Once the fermentation reaches maturity, we add it to our mother vinegar, which is sourced from the Coconut Board Of India (CBD). The acidity level is carefully monitored in our lab to ensure optimal quality. When the fermentation process is complete, we extract 75% of the liquid and heat it to halt further fermentation. The remaining 25% becomes our new mother vinegar, which we use to start the next batch
Our virgin coconut oil is cold-pressed from mature coconuts. We dehusk, destone, and powder the coconuts, then extract the milk using a screw press. The milk is clarified, centrifuged, and cooled to separate the oil from the water. The product is a thick coconut cream which is centrifuged again to produce pure Virgin Coconut Oil.
At Green Valley, we take a unique approach to processing our coconut oil that sets us apart from the rest. We carefully dry our coconuts in two stages using air drying, minimizing heat exposure to preserve the natural goodness. Our two-step crushing and extraction process ensures the highest quality oil, first using a screw press and then a cold press expeller. Finally, we allow the oil to settle and pass it through a high-pressure filter press to ensure purity and clarity.
